Jerusalem

The background music for this page is an arrangement of Blake's Jerusalem. Original music by Sir Charles Hubert Hastings Parry, which I arranged for Brass Band with optional solo cornet at the start.... I hope you enjoy it! Here is a link to the score:

Sleighing On The Lake - by John Pridham

Victoriana - Sleighing on the Lake - Canadian Sleigh Drive

I found this gem of Victoriana amongst some old piano sheet music I collected. The original has no date, but I found out that John Pridham was a Devon schoolmaster writing his music around 1858. I was drawn by the cover illustration, then I thought it sounded so happy and typical of the period that I just had to orchestrate it. I have added a few counter melodies to spice it up.

There are melodic parts for most instruments. The orchestration is suitable for a small orchestra of intermediate to advanced level, most parts should not intimidate a youth or amateur orchestral musician, but if there are too manic moments near the end (eg for trumpet or violin) they can be easily simplified. If you purchase feel free to copy individual parts for own use only. Amateurs are welcome to perform obviously if they purchase the score, but I would like a copy of any recording. Professionals please contact!

Adolphe Adam

Amongst Adam's wonderful compositions is the classic Christmas hymn, Holy Night, here is a full orchestration of Holy Night with brass and bells to give the piece a glorious climax. This version is intended to be over the top with its oldie worldy beginning and over the top finish! Hey,no worries, if little me can sing it with this recording, a professional singer used to Wagner certainly could!

Adolphe Charles Adam (24 July 1803 – 3 May 1856) was a French composer and music critic. A prolific composer of operas and ballets, he is best known today for his ballets Giselle (1844) and Le Corsaire (1856, his last work), his operas Le postillon de Lonjumeau (1836), Le toréador (1849) and Si j'étais roi (1852, often regarded as his finest work), and his Christmas carol Minuit, chrétiens! (O Holy Night) (1847). Adam was also a noted teacher. Léo Delibes was among his pupils.
